Every publishing company has a beginning.
Feathered Pen Books began with something much simpler than a business plan.
It began with a love of books.
And with a belief that there are people carrying stories, experiences, ideas, and messages that deserve the opportunity to become books.
Over time, I began helping writers do exactly that.
One manuscript became another.
Authors trusted me with words that mattered deeply to them.
And slowly, Feathered Pen Books became more than an idea.
It became a home for stories.
The Person Behind the Pen
I’m Dr. Stephanie M. Carter—an author, editor, book coach, and publisher.
I’ve loved writing for more than 30 years.
My own journey hasn’t been a straight line. There have been starts and stops, different seasons of life, dreams pursued and dreams postponed.
But writing remained.
Today, Feathered Pen Books brings together two things I deeply enjoy: writing my own books and helping other writers bring theirs into the world.
What Happens Here
Feathered Pen Books works with writers at different stages of the journey.
Some people come with little more than an idea.
Some have already started writing but need help organizing or developing their manuscript.
Others have completed a manuscript and need editing.
And some arrive ready for the publishing process itself—formatting, cover design, distribution, and the many details involved in transforming a manuscript into a finished book.
Wherever someone begins, I want Feathered Pen to help make the path forward clearer.
More Than Publishing
I also want this journal to give you a look behind the books.
Here in From the Pen, I’ll introduce you to Feathered Pen authors, share new book releases, celebrate publishing milestones, talk about books currently in development, and occasionally take you behind the scenes of what it takes to bring a book to life.
Because when you see a finished book sitting on a shelf, you’re seeing the end of a much longer story.
Behind that cover were ideas, drafts, revisions, doubts, decisions, late nights, edits—and a writer who kept going.
Those are stories worth telling, too.
This Is Just the Beginning
There are more books to write.
More authors to meet.
More manuscripts waiting to become something someone can hold in their hands.
And I’m excited to share that journey here.
